ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESBelow is not intended to be an all-inclusive of the duties, skills, and responsibilities of the Planning Technician.
· Performs duties related to serving as City addresser including conducting an address review for all development requests and assigning addresses as required. Assigning addresses and suite numbers, and verifying addresses for any requests outside of the development review process. Updates external agencies such as the post office, E-911, and appraisal districts with official address assignments. Creates and maintains documentation for address assignments and the addressing process. Assists other divisions and departments with address-related questions.
· Researches information for planning staff and the public, to include field investigations, data research, data compilation, and writing, under the supervision of the City Planner or Planning Director. Provides written or visual material needed for public presentations or special projects. Prepares public notices and property owner verifications.
· Composes correspondence, contracts, reports, minutes, memos, and other material as assigned, from information supplied by rough draft, written or oral instructions, using computer for word processing and other programs as necessary, applies knowledge of departmental operations and judgment in preparing material as to format and content.
· Acts as telephone and office receptionist, receiving public, answering and directing callers, receives and distributes mail, schedules appointments and applies knowledge of departmental operations in answering public inquiries, obtains information from callers for departmental records.
· Prepares agendas, minutes, maps, charts, public notices and visual aids for Planning and Zoning Commission and other commissions/committees as required, notifies committee members of meetings with mailings of all pertinent information as required. May attend Planning and Zoning Commission meetings as recorder.
· Other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associates Degree (A.A.) from four-year college or university AND two years related experience and/or training including GIS training or experience; OR equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform job duties.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the City’s auto insurer.

Pay: $23.00 - $26.26 per hour
