This position involves operating a variety of equipment and performing general highway maintenance and construction tasks. - Maintain City roads, sidewalks, crosswalks, and parking lots in winter: plow; remove snow using equipment; salt and sand all streets, parking lots, sidewalks, and cul-de-sacs
- Perform a full range of basic road/sidewalk maintenance and construction work throughout the year, including grading, asphalt, and concrete work, excavation for infrastructure repair, basin and manhole repair, painting road markings, and installing signs
- Perform various general labor work, including shoveling walks, mowing, brush cutting, operating a chainsaw, painting, general building maintenance, and general repairs
- Mark out City-owned utilities as needed.
- Installing and reading water meters, flushing fire hydrates, repairing breaks in water, sewer, and storm lines, collecting and disposing of refuse, and the like
- Perform water line taps/hookups for City residents
- Maintain and repair equipment, including trucks, sidewalk machines, movers, and changing plow blades.
- Remove all graffiti, debris, and roadkill in the City right away.
- Reset traffic signals.
- Maintain documentation and accurate record keeping, including vehicle maintenance, fire flows, and sewer backups. Record all water breaks and curb stop ties
- Set up and break down for special events, including traffic control
- Maintaining positive working relationships with residents, vendors, and contractors.
- Maintain trees in the City right away, which includes watering, pruning, and removal
- Support with cross-departmental collaboration
- Being on call for snow removal from November 1 to April 1
- General knowledge and ability in vehicle maintenance
- Basicmechanical skills

- Ability to work independently and on a team
