- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must have hands-on work or volunteer experience with individuals with disabilities as well as knowledge of ADA accessibility and the City of Evanston’s ADA/Disability Services
- Must be highly motivated to assist others in providing accessible opportunities for the community
- Demonstrate knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
- Maintain effective and open communication with the City’s ADA Coordinator
- Provide in-person assessment of programs, services, and activities held within the City of Evanston
- Collaborate with the City’s ADA Coordinator to provide trainings and resources to City staff as well as individuals or groups affiliated with the City
- Enthusiastically advocate for the disability community
- Maintain a professional attitude with City staff, Evanston affiliates, and community members
- Attend mandatory trainings
- Complete evaluations and surveys as needed, in a timely manner
- Maintain own schedule and submit hours worked in a timely manner, as guided by the City payroll schedule
- Organize transportation to and from Evanston event locations
- Perform other duties as assigned by the ADA Coordinator or designee

Description:
The Accessibility Advisor is responsible for advocating on behalf of the disability community, educating and supporting City staff as well as contracted vendors and instructors, volunteers, community affiliates and other individuals or groups connected with the City of Evanston through first-hand experience and knowledge of the needs of individuals with disabilities.

Total hours will vary based on City and community needs but are estimated to be between 5-15 hours per month. Schedule will include preparation time to be determined in collaboration with the supervisor.
Supervision:
This position receives supervision support from the ADA Coordinator or designee.
