What are the responsibilities and job description for the BUS OPERATOR - METS position at City of Evansville?
DUTIES:
Performs assigned duties of operation of METS vehicles. Conducts daily pre-trip inspections. Check amount of transfers and schedules. Drive buses to downtown point at appropriate time; operate bus along assigned route picking up and letting off passengers. Assist passengers in fare collection, provide information and disperse transfers. Return bus downtown on time and (if midday) turn bus over to relief driver; or return bus to the garage at the end of the day. Advise relief driver or mechanics of any unusual situations. Complete daily time slip. Train new employees as necessary. Serve on report at garage office taking calls for information or relieve another driver as needed. Works any shift, overtime, weekends and holidays as required. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Commercial Drivers License
(CDL) Class B with air brake and public passenger endorsements.
Must have clear driving record for the past two (2) years.
Must have adequate verbal and written communication skills to inform passengers and fill out necessary reports and mathematical abilities to account for fares collected.
Familiar with city streets, addresses and ability to read maps.
