The IT Technician at the City of Fairborn offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and evolving IT environment while being responsible for providing technical support to end-users and ensuring the efficient operation of the City's IT infrastructure.
Technical Support: Provide timely technical assistance to end users, addressing hardware and software issues, resolving network problems, and ensuring minimal downtime.Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical problems, including hardware, software, and network issues. Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff when necessary.
Installation and Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, and peripherals. Ensure that all end user systems are up to date and functional.
Hardware Procurement: Assist in the selection and procurement of IT hardware and software based on organizational needs and budget constraints.
Software Support: Assist with software troubleshooting, including operating systems and applications.
Network Basics: Gain experience in network setup, configuration, and troubleshooting.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of IT inventory, configurations, and support tickets. Create user guides and documentation for common IT procedures.
User Training: Conduct training sessions for City employees on IT-related topics and best practices.
Technical Learning: Stay updated on industry trends and technologies and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
Compliance: Ensure that IT practices and systems adhere to relevant regulations and standards.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience). Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A , Network , or equivalent, are a plus.
A strong passion for technology and a desire to build a career in IT support. Excellent problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn from experienced IT staff.
A valid Ohio Driver’s License is required.
Obtain and maintain LEADS security clearance.Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to prepare and deliver oral presentations.
Strong knowledge of Windows and/or macOS operating systems.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and other common software applications.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Salary : $53,872 - $75,379
