What are the responsibilities and job description for the Police Recruit position at City of Fairborn?
Under the general supervision of a Police Sergeant the Police Recruit candidate must be enrolled in a peace officer basic training program that meets the requirements of Ohio Revised Code Section 109.77 for Peace Officer Certification. Performs other work as requested.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate of competency. Must possess a valid Ohio Driver's License, have no felony convictions, be 21 years of age at time of appointment and be in the process of obtaining a State of Ohio Certification as a Police Officer. Requirements during Application Process include application, background check, departmental interview, and pre-employment polygraph.

Ability to complete physical fitness test and meet OPOTA’s physical fitness standards.
Ability to maintain passing grades in course curriculum including: Administration, Legal, Human Relations, Firearms, Driving, Subject Control Techniques, First Aid/CPR/AED, Patrol, Civil Disorders, Traffic, Investigation, Physical Conditioning, Homeland Security, Use of Taser/ASP/O.C., Single Officer Response to an Active Shooter, and other courses as required.
Ability to maintain attendance per academy regulations.
Ability to successfully complete basic academy and passing grade on state certification examination.
