What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Crossing Guard-Part Time position at City of Fairfax?
Under the supervision of the School Crossing Guard Supervisor, directs traffic in conjunction with the movement of children to and from school.
Controls vehicular traffic at designated crossing points to allow children to cross safely.
Controls children in the crossing area to assure they obey traffic regulations.
Reports traffic violators to police officers.
Monitors selected areas of the City where students walk to school for unsafe conditions.
Performs related work as assigned.

Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.
Requires some experience in traffic control or closely related experience.
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following necessary knowledge, abilities, and skills.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of Virginia traffic regulations.
Ability and willingness to work in inclement weather.
Must be comfortable working with children.
Ability to provide own transportation to crossing sites.
Ability to execute oral and written instructions.
Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible for employment.
Must possess a valid driver's license and good driving record.
Must pass a job-related physical exam by City selected physician.
Requires a driver’s license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia, with a good driving record.
Hours: Monday through Friday, approximately 3 to 6 hours daily between 7:00 a.m. and 4:15 p.m.
Salary : $16 - $25
