What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temporary Parks and Trail Maintenance position at City of Fairfax?
To provide a safe and clean environment for patrons of the Parks in the City of Fairfax.
Under the direct supervision of the Parks Managers and Park Supervisor, this position is responsible for keeping Park Property, including the fields, grounds, playgrounds, trails, track, bleachers, restroom facilities, etc. clean and safe for patrons. This person will serve as a liaison between the City of Fairfax and the community. They will be required to engage in conversation with the public, and to work cooperatively with City Staff. This position will interact with unhoused populations and work in coordination with City of Fairfax Public works and Human Services.
Clean and maintain the parks, buildings, fields, parking lot, trails, and bathrooms.
Collect and dispose of trash along trails and in parks.
Empty trash cans in the proper location.
With support from Parks and Police, tag and remove encampments and debris.
Perform general grounds keeping responsibilities.
Maintain specific site areas such as but not limited to parks, trails, buildings, and playgrounds.
Inform the supervisor when supplies are needed, or equipment needs to be repaired or replaced.
Maintain positive public relations at all times.
Maintain proper records and daily checklists.
Assist with preparation for Special Events including setting up / taking down equipment, tables, tents, chairs, etc.
Must work mandatory overtime for 4th of July and Fall Festival events.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Must be at least 21 years of age and meet the following criteria.
Valid Virginia Driver’s license with no active violations in the past 3 years.

Additional Desirable Qualification:
Bi-Lingual (English and Spanish) speaking individuals are preferred.
