Under general supervision, this position will assist the Director of Environmental Health, Environmental Health Practitioners, and the Environmental Health Associate with a variety of duties related to sampling and environmental nuisances.
Scope of Responsibility:
This position is responsible for the quality and accuracy of his/her work, as well as any equipment they may use and will assist with environmental sampling and nuisance complaints.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:
Work is performed in and out of the office, with a majority of time driving to verify the status of an environmental complaint or perform environmental sampling. The job could include carrying sampling equipment, visual inspections of nuisances, and lifting the occasional box up to 50 pounds. There is considerable attention to detail and deadlines. The position may be exposed to weather conditions.
Balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, sitting, walking pushing, pulling, lifting, digital dexterity, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing/listening, seeing/ observing. Routine driving is required to perform work related activities.
Heavy Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

- Conduct routine water quality testing in aquatic and other facilities as directed.
- Perform field sample analysis: pH, free and total chlorine residual.

- Environmental Complaints
- Conduct field inspections to verify the validity of a specific complaint.
- Log complaint information into the digital health system.
- Assist with the preparation of complaint notice violations.
- Verify the abatement of the complaint.
- Assist Environmental Health staff with other duties as assigned.
- Performs other duties and activities as assigned.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:
- General computer skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
