The City of Faribault Park and Recreation seeks a positive, energetic professional to provide excellent swim lessons to the citizens of Faribault and community visitors. Successful performance helps ensure the provision of recreational opportunities and improved quality of life for its citizens. Instructors will ensure a safe, fun and educational environment for participants of the program. Essential Responsibilities of the Position:
Works under the general supervision of the Recreation Superintendent.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit and talk or hear, use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in indoor and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet an/or humid conditions.
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet while in the office, and moderately loud when in the program setting.

This process may include professional reference checks, employment verification, assessment testing, criminal history check, and driver's check. All final candidates must successfully complete and pass the City's evaluation of all pre-employment results before their first day of employment.

- Instruct participants for both swimming and safety skills in water.
- Provide a fun and educational swim lesson experience for both participants and parents.
- Observe and enforce all rules and regulations of the facility to prevent accidents or emergency situations.
- Educate class participants on the rules of the facility.
- Provide exemplary customer service ensuring the best swim lesson experience for the participants and parents.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills including communication skills with students, parents and facility staff.
- Attend all training sessions and any additional staff meetings.
- Complete all appropriate lesson paperwork during shift.
- Minimum 15 years old
- Basic swimming skills and willingness to learn advanced skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to work with all ages.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Professional work-related practices of alertness, dependability and courteousness.
- Criminal background check and drug test are required
- American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor
(If not currently certified, compensated for attending WSI course through FPR) - Preferred Bi-Lingual - (Somali, Spanish)
