The purpose of this position is to supervise, lead, and direct a small crew in an assigned division by performing essentially more complex work as those directed, including overseeing work quality, training, instructing and scheduling work.Coordinates, as assigned, the activities of workers on specific projects involving construction, maintenance or other areas related to parks maintenance; works with assigned crews to assure proper workmanship and materials are used; takes initiative to find and solve problems without specific direction from supervision; completes necessary reports.
Documents and reports estimated damage to landscape from accidents; may assist in planning annual landscape color program; may assist in planning chemical application program for landscape area; performs all aspects of parks maintenance; drives various types of vehicles and operates light to medium equipment such as tractors, tillers, trucks, and back-hoes.High school diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of three years related parks maintenance experience required.
Prior supervisory experience preferred.
Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a criminal background check, drug and alcohol test, and a motor vehicle review. Successfully complete the FMCSA Clearinghouse background check process. Work requires functioning as a lead worker performing essentially the same work as those directed, and includes overseeing work quality,
training, instructing, and scheduling work.
Work may require providing advice to others outside direct reporting relationships on specific problems or general policies. Contacts may require the consideration of different points of view to reach agreement. Elements of persuasion may be necessary to gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas.
- Special Requirements:
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Will be subject to on-call rotation during non-working hours, which may include working evenings, weekends and holidays. Must be available for timely response to after call-outs when on-call duty.
This position is classified as a DOT position and is subject to drug and alcohol testing, ongoing driver record checks, and is subject to all U.S. DOT regulations during the course of employment.- Licenses and Certificates:
Class "B" commercial driver's license required.
A Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) Non Commercial Pesticide Applicator License in Plant, Pest and Weed Control, category (3A); or the Structural Pest Control Board (SPCB) equivalent and convert it to TDA Non-Commercial Pesticide Applicator License in Plant, Pest and Weed Control, preferred.
The Texas Nursery and Landscape Association's (TNLA) and Texas Certified Nursery Professional (TCNP) certification is preferred for this position.
- Work Environment:
Work involves extreme exposure to disagreeable elements, and extreme weather conditions. Involves continuous outdoor work with frequent exposure to poor weather conditions. Physical demands include frequent lifting of heavy objects weighing 50 lbs. Continuous physical exertion, requiring heavy muscular effort with resulting fatigue of arms, back or sensory faculties. Sufficient physical stamina to walk a majority of the workday. Extensive bending, stooping, and climbing.
Salary : $45,926 - $68,848
