- Conducting repairs and routine maintenance on all city-owned equipment and vehicles promptly.
- Handling vehicle transportation for required servicing and implementing necessary fabrication and welding repairs when needed.
- Tailoring equipment modifications to meet the specific needs of our departments, ensuring optimal performance.
- Skillfully performing new vehicle up-fittings, including installing light bars, strobes, toolboxes, portable generators and compressors, custom power supplies, computer docking stations, orange cone storage systems, fifth wheel hitches, liftgates, city logos, and decals.
- Diagnoses, installs services for fleet vehicles/equipment including mechanical, electrical, computerized circuitry, refrigeration, ignition, transmission/transaxle, brake, fuel and exhaust. Including but not limited to preventive maintenance.
Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a criminal background check, CJIS Fingerprint check, drug and alcohol test, and a motor vehicle review. Current CDL holders must pass a DOT-regulated drug/alcohol test and successfully complete the FMCSA Clearinghouse background check process. Licenses and Certificates:As part of our commitment to professional growth, we expect our Vehicle and Equipment Technicians to possess the following licenses and certifications:
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record (Class "B" Commercial Driver's License required within six months of employment).
- Three ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications are mandatory, with the expectation of obtaining three additional ASE certifications within the first year of employment.
