The City of Farmington is seeking a motivated and experienced Aquatics Manager to lead operations across multiple aquatic facilities, programs, and staff. This key leadership role ensures the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of aquatic services to our community while managing resources, compliance, and team development.
Operations Management:
- Oversee daily operations of the Farmington Aquatic Center, Bisti Bay Water Park, Lake Farmington swimming area, and seasonal splash pads.
- Ensure facility cleanliness, water quality, chemical use, and adherence to health and safety standards.
- Coordinate swim lessons, aquatic fitness, and recreational swim programs.
- Assist with special events and community engagement activities at aquatic venues.
Leadership & Supervision:
- Hire, train, and supervise a diverse team of full-time and seasonal lifeguards and aquatic staff.
- Provide ongoing coaching, development, and performance evaluations.
- Maintain schedules and ensure adequate staffing for all aquatic facilities.
Budget & Resource Management:
- Manage facility budgets, purchases, and supply inventories.
- Monitor maintenance needs and coordinate repairs and upgrades with city departments.
Compliance & Safety:
- Maintain compliance with state and federal aquatic health and safety regulations.
- Develop and enforce standard operating procedures, emergency action plans, and lifeguard training protocols.
- Maintain required certifications and ensure staff certifications are up to date.
Customer Service & Communication:
- Deliver high-quality customer service and handle public inquiries and concerns professionally.
- Collaborate with city departments, community groups, and event planners to enhance programming.
- Prepare reports, records, and presentations on facility operations and improvements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Sports Management, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible aquatics experience, including 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of pool operations, water safety, and staff development.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) required.
- Lifeguard Instructor and First Aid/CPR Instructor certifications preferred.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Must obtain a valid New Mexico driver’s license.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Successful completion of background check and adherence to the City of Farmington’s Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy.
