The Full-time Police Officer is responsible for enforcing laws, maintaining order, and protecting the citizens of the City of Farmington. This position requires a high level of physical fitness, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Responsibilities:
- Patrol assigned areas to prevent and detect crime, and to enforce laws and regulations
- Respond to emergency calls, including but not limited to, crimes in progress, accidents, and medical emergencies
- Conduct investigations, gather evidence, and interview witnesses and suspects
- Write reports and maintain accurate records of incidents and activities
- Testify in court as required
- Participate in community policing initiatives and build relationships with the public
- Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and emergency services as needed
- Maintain a high level of physical fitness and participate in regular training and professional development
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
- Completion of a police academy training program or the ability to complete a police academy training program upon hire.
- Possession of a valid driver's license
- Ability to pass a background check
- Ability to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Physical fitness and ability to perform duties that require strenuous physical activity
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a variety of environments, including but not limited to, patrol cars, offices, and outdoor settings
