The City of Fate is seeking a highly organized and reliable Permit Tech to help us manage our growing workload effectively. As one of the fastest-growing communities in the region, Fate's Building Safety Department is actively shaping the future of our city by ensuring the safety, quality, and compliance of new development projects.
This position is responsible for performing administrative and clerical work related to issuing building permits, contractor registrations, certificates of occupancy, other permits and licensing and other related duties including collection and receipt of moneys. Maintains spreadsheets and other statistical data as required.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides administrative support to the Director of Community Services and Building Safety preparing and reviewing correspondence, reports and forms, Schedule's appointments, books meeting rooms, and distributes mail. Prepares and proofreads reports, and completes other clerical duties as needed.Provides customer service by answering telephone, greeting, and assisting walk up customers, and responding to email; assists the public with questions requiring knowledge of policies and procedures related to permits, contractor registrations, code compliance issues, and other city services.Receives and Issues permits and notifies applicants when they are ready for pick up.Calculate and verify valuations, fees, accepts payment for issued permits and perform daily deposits.Receives and processes applications for contractor licenses.Assist Building Inspectors and Code enforcement officer coordinating Inspections, and performs administrative assistance as needed.Assists contractors and residents in the use of the government software application for permit applications.Addresses customer complaints and / or service requests in person, by phone or by mail, and distributes them to the appropriate department or personnel.Establishes and maintains files for Inspectors.Processes and issues animal licenses.Accepts and receipts payments for permits and licenses according to City policies and procedures.Coordinate and maintain Rental registration Program, and schedule of inspections.Assembles, researches, and summarizes information from various sources and prepares special or recurring reports.Establishes and maintains record keeping system for department correspondence, documents, materials or records as needed.Maintains and orders office and other department supplies.Performs other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GEDTwo (2) years of general office experience. Experience in local government preferred.Permit Technician Certification or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire.Excellent computer skills necessary to succeed in a modern office environment.Possession of a valid Texas driver's licenseA combination of education, training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.City of Fate Employee Benefits
