What are the responsibilities and job description for the Utility Billing Clerk position at City of Fate?
We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Utility Billing Clerk to join our team and provide superior customer service to the citizens of Fate. This position offers a 4-9 hour shifts with a half-day on Fridays. Job duties include receiving and recording payments for residential and commercial water, sewer and refuse accounts, processing new accounts and account disconnections; researching customer inquiries and preparing reports as required. This position also assists with Municipal Court as needed.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides superior customer service by greeting customers and responding to their inquiries either in-person, by phone or via email.
- Receives payments, answers questions and responds to customer complaints regarding utility billing.
- Directs customers to appropriate departments for other City-related assistance.
- Provides general City information to customers.
- Sorts and prepares utility payments for data entry.
- Verifies and reconciles payments deposited.
- Accurately enters customer information into computer system.
- Researches, analyzes, responds and follows through with customer inquiries regarding water, sewer, and garbage services with corrective actions if needed to ensure customers’ satisfaction
- Receives and directs calls reporting outages, and water/sewer leaks
- Assists Municipal Court as needed.
- Notifies customers of delinquency, returned checks, or other issues with their utility account as required
- Maintains customer account paperwork and files.
- Organizes and prepares reports for end-users.
- Assists with mailing monthly statements to customers.
- Balances cash drawer and submits appropriate reports.
- Receives customer deposits for new accounts.
- Organizes new customer accounts for data entry.
- Prepares work orders to obtain meter readings on new services.
- Tracks and follows up on work orders as needed.
- Processes incoming and outgoing mail.
- Maintains and organizes office supplies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED
- One year of customer service and/or billing experience. Experience in local government preferred.
- Excellent computer skills necessary to succeed in a modern office environment
- Possession of a valid Texas driver’s license
- A combination of education, training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.36 - $21.60 per hour
