Essential Job Duties

Safety/Security Sensitive Designation:
This is a safety/security sensitive position for purposes of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment and is subject to random drug and alcohol screening.
- Maintain parks, trails, amenities, landscaping, green spaces, trees, shrubs, turf, and irrigation. Serve as a lead worker as needed, assisting in the supervision of a crew.
- Operate and maintain small equipment such as push mowers, string trimmers, blowers, chain saws, pressure washers and hand tools.
- Operate and maintain large equipment such as zero turn mowers, tractors, backhoes, excavators, skid steers, trucks and trailers, stump grinders, and aerial lifts.
- Operate and maintain heavy construction equipment such as large backhoe, bobcat skid loader, dump truck and front-end loader.
- Utilize fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides as necessary to maintain turf, trees, and grounds.
- Perform basic carpentry and concrete work.
- Design, install and repair irrigation systems.
- Move equipment and materials to and from job sites.
- Repair vandalism and remove graffiti.
- Keep grounds free from trash, litter, and debris, and empty trash and recycling receptacles.
- Prepare and grade soil and install seed, sod, and/or mulch.
- Serve in an on-call status as assigned to respond to after-hours service needs.
- Remove snow and ice from downtown square area and other parks and trails.
- Install holiday lights which typically involves working from aerial lifts and on ladders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED and 18 months of related experience.
Must possess a valid Driver’s License; must possess or be able to obtain a Class A CDL within six months of hire date.
Must successfully pass criminal background check, including but not limited to convictions, guilty pleas, or no contest pleas to violent offenses, theft offenses, offenses against children, and any offense that would qualify to prevent a person from obtaining an Arkansas teaching certificate (A.C.A. 6-17-410).
Effectively communicate with others orally and in writing.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of distance.
Must be able to operate various hand tools, trucks, mowers, backhoe, front end loader, bush hog, skid loaders, dump truck, sweeper, utility vehicle, trailers, tractors, chain saw, and aerial lift.
While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively. The employee regularly is required to stand, walk and sit. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
While performing the functions of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
