Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience
Six months of experience operating buses or similar equipment or completion of the NC Division of Motor Vehicles entry-level driver training (ELDT) program within the last six months and an acceptable driving record in accordance with the City of Fayetteville Driving Standard.
Training
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
Required
LICENSING & CERTIFICATIONS:
A current DOT Medical Card; North Carolina Class B Commercial Driver’s License with an endorsement for air brakes and a passenger endorsement at the time of employment and ability to maintain insurability.
Preferred
First Aid certification; CPR certification.
From the time of closing, the selection process is anticipated to last approximately 4 - 6 weeks. The process will consist of a panel interview with the selected candidate being subject to a pre-employment DOT drug screen, DOT physical, background check, and a driving history check.

Effective January 1, 2025, part-time, seasonal and temporary employees are eligible to participate in the NC 401(k) and NC 457 plan. These plans assist employees in saving for retirement by saving a portion of their pay.
The NC 401(k) and NC 457 plans are both administered by Empower.
Part-time, Temporary And Seasonal Employees Can
City employees are paid bi-weekly, every other Friday. As an added convenience and safety measure, the City requires all new employees to sign up for direct deposit of their payroll checks.

- Monday – Saturday between the hours of 4:55 AM and 10:30 PM
- Sunday between the hours of 8:30 AM and 7:30 PM
- Hours worked on Sundays are paid at Premium Pay (overtime rate of time and a half)

- Safety - the safe operation of your bus and the well-being of your passengers;
- Customer Service – responding to customer inquiries concerning transit information, providing a comfortable rides and collection of proper fares;
- Schedule Adherence – providing reliable and consistent bus route service according to publicly advertised schedules.
