INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE PROCESSED.A RESUME WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED IN DETERMINING YOUR QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION.The City of Fayetteville is currently recruiting for a Master Fleet Technician to perform highly skilled tasks in the service, repair and maintenance of a variety of automotive, construction, specialized equipment and technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility; to provide technical assistance to lower level mechanics; and to perform the most complex and difficult repairs in the Fleet Division.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Perform highly skilled mechanical duties involving repair and maintenance of gasoline, propane and diesel powered automotive vehicles, heavy and light construction equipment and other power-driven equipment.Inspect, diagnose and locate mechanical difficulties on fleet vehicles, and a variety of gasoline and diesel powered maintenance and construction equipment; recommend solutions; perform preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment.Diagnose, maintain and repair electrical systems components, ignition systems, computers, alternators, high voltage power generators, starters and batteries; diagnose, maintain, repair and recondition hydraulic systems.Diagnose and repair front and rear drive axles, drive train components, belts, gears, chain drives and propeller shafts; replace or repair faulty parts on equipment and vehicle fleet.Repair, adjust or replace engines, transmissions, differentials, and clutches and hydraulic and air brake systems; tune up engines and propane fuel systems.Fabricate and assemble parts for automotive, medium and heavy equipment; modify and repair body panels and chassis parts; identify, repair, and replace defective wiring.Operate various mechanical equipment and ensure the adherence to safe work practices and procedures; perform vehicle and equipment safety inspections; provide detailed records of maintenance services performed.Provide technical assistance to lower level staff; assist with shop planning and priorities; monitor shop floor for safety compliance; estimate time, parts, and material required for jobs assigned.Assist with customer service and communicate with Fleet Liaisons; provide technical advice as it relates to logistics.Assist in purchasing and maintaining required job specific tooling.For a complete job description, click here.
