Part-time, Seasonal Employment
The Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation department is currently recruiting for Recreation Assistants to assist various recreation centers for the following assignments:
General Recreation Assistant Assignment
Assists full time staff in those areas specific to assigned duties. Assist in overseeing all activities, operations and programs in support of an assigned recreation center. Oversee or assist with such activities as after school, dancing, arts and crafts, games and/or athletics. This position can also be performed by existing staff in a score/time keeper or gym/field supervisor position.
Youth Development Program Assignment
Assists with recreational programs with emphasis on youth development, to include but not limited to, college experience field trips, counselor in training, job shadowing, junior official program, junior scorekeeper program and spring workshop series, and cultural arts activities in the recreation centers and throughout the community.
- Help organize and assist by supervising recreation programs and services at an assigned center.
- Enforce recreation center rules and regulations as it relates to safety and procedure.
- Help prepare, setup and disassemble appropriate materials and equipment for activities.
- Receive money for center use; write and issue receipts.
- Answer questions and provide information to the public concerning recreation center programs and assigned activities.

From the time of closing, the selection process is anticipated to last approximately 4 - 6 weeks. The process will consist of a panel interview with the selected candidate being subject to a pre-employment drug screen, background check and driving history check.
