Job Description:
The City of Ferguson is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Citywide Janitor to maintain cleanliness and order in City Hall, the Police Department, parks, and other municipal facilities as needed. This role ensures a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for staff and the public.
Primary Responsibilities:
Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting.
Maintain restrooms by restocking supplies, cleaning surfaces, and addressing maintenance needs.
Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste appropriately.
Ensure meeting rooms, offices, and common areas are clean and orderly.
Respond to seasonal or occasional cleaning needs, including assisting with the maintenance of park restrooms.
Perform light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs or minor repairs.
Perform light exterior maintenance tasks, such as cleaning doors and windows, spreading salt on steps during snow or ice, and using a blower to clear snow from walkways.
Assist with special projects or events that require janitorial support.
Other duties as assigned to support the cleanliness and functionality of city facilities.
Schedule:
This position typically follows a Monday through Friday schedule. However, occasional nights or weekends may be required to support special events or other city needs.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred.
Valid driver’s license required, with the ability to drive a city vehicle.
Must pass random drug testing as part of employment.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
Flexibility to assist in various departments or handle seasonal demands.
Must pass a background check.
