Ferguson Parks and Recreation is looking for a part-time Farmers’ Market Attendant to assist with the information booth and operations of the Ferguson Farmers’ Market. Work involves overseeing the opening, closing, and successful operation of the Ferguson Farmers’ Market including greeting the public and being available to answer questions and assist visitors. The position is also responsible for clerical tasks in support of operations including POS transactions, financial management, and maintaining communication with the full-time staff. Work is performed with considerable independence under general supervision from a Recreation Specialist.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provide visitors with quality customer service that meets or exceeds the department expectations
Provide efficient and friendly information booth operations including providing accurate information about services, programs, and general information related to the market.
Process and accept payments for EBT, Double-Up, and Market Bucks through the use of computer software
Enforce all policies and safety procedures with visitors of the market.
Ensure facility is clean, set-up, and well-maintained throughout the market.
Monitor facility usage and ensure proper operation of all equipment
Maintain positive rapport with vendors and guests.
Complete reports for injury, accidents, and other incidents.
Responsible for working funds, cash drawers, daily reports, and daily deposits.
Responsible for effective communication to full-time staff
Assist full-time staff with planning, coordinating vendors, and other office tasks as needed.
Responsible for the security of the facility including unlocking, locking, and setting alarms.
Follow safe work practices.
Maintain professionalism in all interactions with visitors
All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 18 or older at time of hire
Requires a positive, can-do attitude with ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
Must possess strong human relation skills.
Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Sound judgment and decision-making skills to handle problem solving and interpersonal skills.
Subject to working a varied schedule including days, evenings and weekends.
CPR certification may be required (provided by the City upon hire).
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is done in primarily an outdoor setting. Expected to work at least 20 hours per week. Max of 40 hours per week.
