Job Overview
This position is under the supervision of the Information Systems Manager. The Computer Support Technician provides technical support to City of Findlay computer users, both in person and via phone or chat. Responsibilities include troubleshooting software, hardware, and network issues, offering user-friendly solutions, assisting with system maintenance, and supporting end-user training. Additional tasks involve hardware inventory management, mobile device management, and documentation. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with at least one year of IT support experience preferred. Excellent communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, troubleshooting abilities, and knowledge of network systems are essential. The work is primarily indoors, with moderate noise levels and minimal physical exertion, though occasional lifting up to 20 pounds is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides first-level support by identifying, diagnosing, and resolving issues related to desktop software, hardware, LAN, and Internet connectivity, both remotely and in person
- Effectively communicates solutions to end-users in a clear and professional manner;
- Provides one-on-one end-user problem resolution over the phone and in-person for city approved workstation software;
- Delivers, tags, sets up, and assists in the configuration of end-user PC desktop hardware, software and peripherals;
- Diagnoses and resolves end-user network or local printer problems, PC hardware problems and server, e-mail, Internet, and local-area network access problems;
- Coordinates timely repair of PC computer equipment covered by third-party vendor maintenance agreements;
- Performs minor desktop hardware repair for PC computer equipment and peripherals that are not covered by third-party vendor maintenance agreements;
- Provides general assistance with installation of local area network cabling and equipment such as patch panels, NIC’s, switches, etc.;
- Assists Network Administrator, System Administrator, and Software developer in creating materials for end-user frequently asked questions (FAQs).
- Performs some basic server maintenance tasks under supervision, and maintains system images for machine deployments
- Performs other duties as required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $12.76 - $26.45 per hour
