Job Overview
This position is great for college students pursuing aviation related careers. It is a temporary position running from around mid-May to September (we will work with your school schedule). This position is under the direction of the Airport Supervisor. You will be performing line service and field operations duties at the Findlay Airport. Responsibilities include operating various airport equipment, refueling, marshalling, assisting pilots and passengers, maintaining inventory, processing payments, and performing general cleaning and maintenance tasks. The role demands physical labor and exposure to outdoor and indoor work environments, including operating around aircraft and handling chemical compounds. Required qualifications include a high school diploma/GED, 1-2 years of airport operations experience, specific certifications, and abilities in groundskeeping, carpentry, and effective communication. No supervisory responsibilities are assigned. Reasonable accommodations will be made to support individuals with disabilities in performing essential functions.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties
- Operates airport equipment to include, but not limited to refuel truck, loader, tractor, plow truck, forklift, and aircraft tug;
- Assists in ordering inventory items and supplies;
- Assists with maintaining inventory and inventory records;
- Receives verbal instruction from the Airport Director, Airport Operations Coordinator, and Lead Line Service Technician;
- Occasionally Sets up machines and equipment;
- Performs refueling, marshalling, GPU starts, battery starts, preheat, de-ice, and towing operations;
- Assists pilots and passengers with directions, phone numbers, baggage, tie down, hotel accommodations, car rental, and hangar accommodations;
- Engages in billing for services, collecting and processing payments and using Airport point of sale systems;
- Performs general cleaning and maintenance of hangar buildings and airfield;
- Performs grass mowing, and other field maintenance tasks;
- Assists in maintaining airport equipment, hangars and buildings;
- Assists with fuel quality assurance;
- Issues and cancels Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs.);
- Assists with inspections and maintaining permits;
- Performs other duties as required.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of practical airport operations experience or educational programming.
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with employees, officials, other agencies, and the general public;
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions;
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
