What are the responsibilities and job description for the Police Officer position at City of Findlay?
Brief description of essential responsibilities include: Providing protection of life and property, enforcement of federal, state and local laws, response to emergency/non-emergency situations and investigation of criminal activity.
You do not need any prior certification to apply for this job. You only need to be 21 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, and a valid Ohio Driver's License. If you are selected the City of Findlay will pay to send you to OPOTA ( Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy).
The State of Ohio has certain rules that have to be followed during the hiring process of police officers - This is called the Civil Service Process.
HOW THE PROCESS WORKS
1) Fill out and submit an application - found online at https://www.findlayohio.gov/government/boards-commissions/civil-service-commission/civil-service-testing
2) Sign up for an Exam time and take the written exam. A score of 70% is required for a passing grade. Once we receive your application we will email you the different exam dates and times along with other pertinent information.
3) Those who pass the written exam will be required to participate in a Physical Agility Test. This test is pass/fail. Once I receive your application I will send you details on the date, time, and location of the Physical Agility Test along with what the test entails.
4) If you fail the physical agility test you are no longer eligible for the position. If you pass the physical agility test your name will be placed on a list.
5) The Police Department will interview a certain number of people from the list. At least 10 people will receive an interview.
