Be a part of history in the City of Fishers! The Fishers Community Center is scheduled to open October 2025. The Business Manager of our Community Center will help establish and perform all accounting responsibilities and processes to help open and maintain this vibrant new facility with excellence. The 105,000sq. ft. Fishers Community Center will offer free amenities to the community including a walking track, large indoor playground, and access to Sahms Community Café. It will also have a paid membership model that allows access to 2 indoor pools (including a 2-story waterslide), 3 athletic gyms, a large fitness floor, 2 group exercise studios, 1 cycle studio, childcare, and much more. The Community Center will also feature a 3-acre Dog Park located on the campus. Our Business Manager will coordinate the preparation of the budget, monitor cash balances and conduct necessary training for community center staff to ensure fiscal policies and procedures are being followed. Examples of Duties:
- Coordinate the preparation department budget and monitor cash balances.
- Conduct fiscal and management research; compile data for forecasting and comparative analysis, and periodically create forecasts and budget summary reports to assist with budget.
- Review and audit billing as needed to ensure accuracy.
- Oversee the daily deposit process for cash/credit payments for services from the Community Center and ensure compliance with internal and external monetary control procedures.
- Review, update, and/or develop internal control systems for the Community Center and oversee internal audits which check for compliance on a variety of policies and standards; provides recommendations for improvement.
- Directs and conducts all necessary training for community center staff to ensure that fiscal policies and procedures are uniformly disseminated and understood.
- Assist with purchases including obtaining price quotes.
- Prepare reports and correspondence.
- Coordinate and collaborate with other city departments.
- Coordinate and participate in special projects.
- Act as manager on duty for some evening and weekend rotations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major study in accounting, business administration, or a closely related field;
- Three (3) or more years of progressively responsible accounting and auditing experience;
- Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be considered;
- Experience in principles and practices of public administration, municipal finance, budgeting, and financial analysis and modeling required;
- Billing auditing experience required;
- Experience in budget forecasting and summary reports required;
- Purchasing and price quote experience preferred;
- Collaborative problem-solving skills in a way that builds and maintains positive and productive working relationships with employees, contractors, and the general public required;
- Experience in standard office practices and procedures including operation of modern office equipment such as personal computers, MS Office Suite, programing and scheduling software, printers, and other related equipment;
- Must maintain valid drivers license and be able to be insured to drive a city vehicle;
- This role requires some evening and weekend work.
