About the Role:
As our Library Assistant II, you will perform a variety of routine duties associated with youth services. The position has a strong customer service component, including applying and interpreting library policies.
Schedule:
Monday 2:00 pm-6:00 pm; Tuesday 2:00 pm-6:00 pm; Wednesday 4:00 pm-8:00 pm; Thursday 4:00 pm-8:00 pm; Friday 2:00 pm-6:00 pm; every third Saturday 9:30 am-6:00 pm and Sunday 1:00 pm-5:00 pm.
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive and all-inclusive; other duties may be required and assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides assistance to customers of all ages to meet information and recreational needs.
- Plans, prepares and presents library programs for ages 0-17.
- Assists in preparing publicity materials and library displays.
- Plans & presents storytimes.
- Keeps the children's collection neat and organized, and makes sure books and toys are put away.
- Answers directional questions in the library.
- Contacts users via telephone or email as needed.
- Assists with the development of library databases and provides data entry as needed.
- Assists in collection maintenance tasks.
- Conducts shelf-reading of collection to maintain order.
- Cross trains and works in all departments as needed.
- Provides circulation services for customers, including registration and assistance with self-checkout.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- As needed, supports the materials handling process, including check-in, sorting, shelving, and retrieving materials requested by patrons.
- Helps plan and deliver outreach programs.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:
- Associate degree or two years of college.
- At least one year of customer service experience required.
- Fluency in Spanish desirable.

- Ability to understand and perform assigned library procedures and apply library policy.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Excellent written communication skills.

- Ability to maintain adequate attendance.
