We are looking for dependable, inspiring role models to bring creativity and excitement to our summer recreation programs!This is a seasonal position - and will work 30-40 hours per week during the summer months. About the Role: Under the general direction and supervision of the Community Center/Recreation Director, you will plan and implement activities at Fitchburg parks for youth, ages 6-12, and programs at the community center for youth ages 3-5. Emphasis is on arts and crafts, music, sports, and active playground games including field trips.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Program Assistant Responsibilities: Conduct the playground and camp program and help with pre-school programmingConduct field trips under the direction of the playground coordinator.Plan overall program including events calendar for the season.Work with the playground coordinator to ensure the availability of materials needed for each day's activity.Develop individual lesson plans for the playground and camp program and also pre-school run-a-bouts.Make necessary plans for field trips, including reservations, bus reservations, collecting fees, and recruiting chaperones.Respond to parents and guardians on program issues, relays information to the Playground Coordinator and Community Center/Recreation Assistant.Properly stores recreational equipment and supplies for the season.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to communicate and work effectively with youth ages 3-12 and the general public.Ability to work in an efficient and safe manner and carry out assigned tasks with minimal supervision. Ability to work with culturally diverse individuals and groups.Ability to maintain adequate attendance.In evaluating candidates for this position, the City may consider a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential duties of this position.
