$53,352.00 - $80,017.60 Annually

This position is Full Time, Non-Exempt, Tenure and Benefit Eligible
The purpose of this position is to provide end-user support for PC’s, laptops, printers, applications, and other technologies. This position works within the IT service ticketing software to resolve end-user issues in a timely and sufficient manner. This position elevates issues to specialized staff as appropriate. This position works with our device management and imaging software to inventory, prepare and deploy end user devices in support of our device replacement schedule. This position works within the IT Division’s service framework and best practices to provide a high level of customer service to the organization.
This is the advanced senior level class in the Desktop Support series. Positions at this level possess a specialized, technical, or functional expertise within the area of assignment and may exercise lead or project supervision over assigned lower-level staff. Employees are typically assigned significant responsibilities and often exercise independent judgment in the performance of all duties. This class is distinguished in that it performs the most complex work assigned to series and serves in a project supervision capacity over lower-level staff.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
- Supervisory:
- This job has Leadworker responsibilities (coordinates and monitors the work of others) but does not supervise.
- Budgetary:
- This job does not have budgetary responsibilities but carries out day-to-day activities within approved budget.
- Strategic Planning:
- This job has partial responsibility for strategic planning at the Program level (assists with developing, implementing, and managing long and short-term goals).
- Policies/Procedures:
- This job has partial responsibility for policies and procedures at the Program level (assists with developing, implementing, and interpreting).
- Compliance:
- This job has partial responsibility at the Program level (follows, assists in ensuring compliance with, and may enforce) Federal, State, and Local laws, rules, and regulations as well as City policies and procedures.
- Council Communications:
- This job carries out day-to-day activities in accordance with Council’s adopted priorities and direction.
- Reporting:
- This job has partial responsibility for reporting to Federal/State/Local agencies at the Program level (gathers information, completes reports, and assists in addressing discrepancies in reporting)
EXAMPLES OF THE WORK PERFORMED (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)
- Installs, sets-up, implements, configures tests, operates, and supports a variety of computer equipment and software
- Provides second-level technical assistance and troubleshooting for computer hardware, software, network and/or other related technology issues
- Instructs users in the use of equipment, software, and/or manuals; identifies training needs; coordinates and schedules training classes; develops, maintains, verifies, and updates operational procedures and documentation
- Monitors computer-related inventory; orders computer supplies and equipment as directed; coordinates the removal or disposal of old supplies and equipment
- Performs testing and quality control measures of existing software applications
- Troubleshoots warranty and/or other related issues with applicable vendors
- Researches and recommends the purchase of hardware and software for the City
- Confers with end users to analyze, configure, and/or tailor applications to fit their needs
- Participates in the development of departmental policies and procedures
- Performs the essential functions as described in the physical demands and work environment sections below
- Maintains regular attendance and punctuality
- Provides 24x7x365 emergency support for the IT network infrastructure.
- Provides guidance and training to other members of the team.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Associates Degree in Computer Science, Management, or Information Systems or a closely related field.
- 3-5 years of general Information Technology experience
- Or any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the above Minimum Requirements.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management, or Information Systems or a closely related field.
- 5-7 years of general Information Technology experience
- CompTIA A Certification
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess, or obtain upon employment, a valid Arizona driver’s license.
- Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity.
