Job Summary
This position oversees the maintenance and repairs of buildings and facilities of the City of Florence. Job duties include planning, organizing, supervising maintenance staff, scheduling work assignments, and inspections, and diagnosing or detecting problems, such as electrical, plumbing, heating / air, painting, masonry, carpentry, roofing, and other miscellaneous maintenance problems / issues. Employee develops a plan for repairs, and when necessary makes repair referrals to outside vendors. This position is subject to callouts after hours and on weekends. Employee is required to respond in emergency / urgent situations. This position works under the direct supervision of the Manager of Solid Waste, Street, and Recycle.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities and Supervision Required
- Performs carpenter duties, including installing floor tiles, hanging drywall, replacing windows and doors, painting, building shelves and simple structures, and any other carpenter duties that may be assigned.
- Performs inspections on electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems and makes repairs; or, refers to a licensed professional for repair.
- Operates tools / equipment typically found in a carpenter shop.
- Coordinates work assignments with other City departments.
- Supervises employees assigned to maintenance jobs.
- Works flexible schedules and may be called out after hours / weekends in emergency / urgent situations. Work schedules may vary due to the City's needs.
- Responsible for ensuring and maintaining all safety / building codes are current / up to date.
- May be required to perform a variety of other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications, Experience, Training, & License
Required Knowledge Skills Abilities
Supervision :
Employee works independently overseeing and managing the maintenance of the City's buildings and facilities. Will supervise a crew of 1-5 employees. Employee reports directly to the Manager of Solid Waste, Street, and Recycle.
