Works under the supervision and direction of the Route Supervisor assigned to the collection and removal of brush, debris, and trash from city streets and right of way. Leads a team of Equipment Operators that operate hydraulic boom loaders and other Street Department equipment assigned to the removal of debris. Individuals may be required to perform other duties such as construction, repair, and maintenance of city properties, demolition, and general labor. Will assume duties of Route Supervisor during his absence.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Drives and operates hydraulic boom brush loader removing brush, debris, and trash from city streets and right of waysResponsible for the protection of personal property while removing debris and rubbishOperates backhoe, rubber tire loader, front end loader, tractor-trailer w/ low boy, leaf vacuum truck, dump truck, jet rodder, shuttle truck with 21’ trailer, mowers with attachments, and other equipment assigned to the departmentAssists in the removal of snow and ice by spreading slag, salt, and stone during winter emergenciesMay be required to operate a street sweeper to clean city streetsDemolishes structures and loads debris for disposal in landfills or other areas of disposalMay be required to assist in the repair and construction of streets, alleys, sewer lines, etc.May assist in Rolling streets, alleys, and parking lots before and after application of double surface chip seal and or hot plant asphalt mixCleans storm sewer drains and inlet boxes using a high-pressure sewer truckEnsures that preventative maintenance is performed on vehicles and equipmentRepresents the Street Department and the city of Florence in a friendly, tactful, and courteous mannerReport problems to the Supervisor This department may require employees to perform a variety of other assigned duties. Shifts may vary according to the needs of the city.Will assume duties of Route Supervisor during his absence.

Knowledge of Street Department rules and regulations.Knowledge of the City of Florence streets.Ability to see that routes are completed in a complete, timely, orderly, and safe manner.Ability to work in and around moving traffic and other obstructions while operating equipment.Ability to protect the personal property of residence during the removal of debris and rubbish.Ability to operate equipment assigned to the Street Department and to work around above and underground utilities.Knowledge of traffic safety rules and regulations.Knowledge of safety rules and regulations that apply to working in and around vehicles and equipment.Ability to read, write, and understand material related to the position.Supervision: Employee works independently and leads a team of Equipment Operators that operate hydraulic boom loaders and other various equipment. Employee assumes duties of Route Supervisor during his absence.Physical Demands (with or without accommodations): Ability to work under stressful situations.Ability to work with constant exposure to heat, cold, dampness, noise, vibration, and other disagreeable work conditions.Ability to stoop, bend, and lift on a regular basis up to 50 pounds (more on occasion).
