Description
Rate: $18.00, not to exceed 28 hours weekly
General Purpose of Position
The Indoor Pool Manager is responsible for supervising and administering activities at the indoor aquatic facility in order to provide quality swimming programs and services.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees and trains part-time Headguards and Lifeguard Staff
- Records and organizes accurate records' concerning attendance, accident reports pool readings, inventory reports and schedules
- Maintain lifeguard skills at test-ready performance
- Participate in Ellis Audits
- Respond to emergency situations
- Handles routine disciplinary issues and always communicates with the Recreation Specialist and Superintendent of Recreation
- Assist with daily and weekly maintenance and upkeep of the Aquatic environment (This includes but not limited to backwashing, cleaning, maintaining filters and chemical feeders and equipment, hot tub cleaning and vacuuming
- Monitor Pool equipment, outside patio, locker rooms, balcony, patrons and staff in order to maintain a safe aquatic environment
- Assist with planning pool schedules, aquatic programming, and special events
- Responsible for planning and teaching in-service topics and keeping entire staff lifeguarding skills at test ready performance
- Enforce all aquatics facility rules, policies and procedures, making sure the rest of the staff enforces those rules as well
- Instruct and assist all group swimming lessons for children and adults
- Exhibits a professional image, behavior, appearance and demeanor at all times
- Maintains required certifications, seeks advanced training
- Must be self-motivated
- Maintains positive experience for every patron and responds to internal and external requests without a delay
- Works well with others, creates a teamwork atmosphere for fellow co-workers, and treats all individuals with dignity and respect
- On-time for all scheduled shifts and cover for other staff when needed
- Performs other duties as directed
Requirements
Education and Experience
Must be 19 year of age and have a high school diploma or GED. Some college is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
Must currently possess the following certifications
- Jeff Ellis and Associates Lifeguard License
- Jeff Ellis and Associates VanGuard certification
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Thorough knowledge and application in the areas of the pool sanitation, water chemistry and filtration
- Leaderships abilities, be able to command the respect of pool staff as well as patrons, and be able to delegate duties when needed
- Must have effective decision making skills, public relation skills
- Must demonstrate effective verbal, written and listening communication skills
- Time/Stress Management skills
- Must have previous experience working in an aquatics setting
- Previous Management experience preferred
- Mobility required
- Duties require attentiveness to visual and audible cues for recognition and identification of swimmers in distress or in process of un-safe behavior
- Proficient swimming ability and the proper application of rescue and first-aid techniques
- Ability to properly extract guests in distress from the pool/Hot tub
- Working conditions- manual labor is required. Extreme weather conditions and working with chemicals are factors in this position.
Position not to exceed 29 hours weekly.
