Under general supervision, this position greets patrons and provides multiple levels of customer service. Monitors public access computer lab; assists patrons with printing, resumes, online searches, online applications, scanning, sign-in/log out procedures, ID slips, etc. Assists patrons with electronic devices. Cleans and mounts lab computers. Prepares manuals and teaches hands-on computer classes. Helps enforce lab and quiet zone rules for the second floor. Orders and maintains state and federal tax forms; prints special request tax forms for patrons. Responsible for opening and closing procedures at the library. Reports to the Head of Collection Management.Hours for this position: Mon-Thursday 3-7pmSaturday 8-5pm
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential FunctionsMonitors public access to the computer lab; enters patrons into computer lab administrative system; monitors site access to ensure compliance with lab policies. Assists computer patrons with printing, resumes, online searches, online applications, scanning, sign-in/log out procedures, general computer operations, etc.Assists patrons with personal electronic devices, which includes but is not limited to: teaching basic use of new devices; assisting with uploading, downloading, and updating; signing up and teaching use of library applications such as Overdrive and Libby; and determining device performance issues.Teaches basic hands-on computer classes in a classroom setting and one on one.Monitors computer systems for minor problems and assists in correcting those problems. Major problems are to be reported to the supervisor.Answers phones, relays calls, takes messages, and provides information.Provides reference service by conducting and assisting in material searches for patrons using the PAC computers and assists patrons in selecting and locating materials. Orders and maintains federal and state tax forms, and assists patrons when determining which forms they need and in finding and printing specialized forms.Oversees opening and closing procedures at the library.

PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe work is light work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Requires standing or sitting for sustained periods of time; walking or moving from one work site to another; manual dexterity to pick, pinch, type, or otherwise work primarily with fingers; mental acuity including the ability to make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes; hearing to receive detailed information and to make the discrimination in sound; and the ability to express ideas by means of the spoken word and have close visual acuity.
