The City of Folsom's Parks and Recreation Department is currently recruiting for temporary, part-time Recreation Leader I/IIs - Summer Camp to support the Community & Cultural Services Division.

Under the direction of Recreation Coordinators and Summer Camp Directors, summer Recreation Leaders will facilitate daily camp activities including arts and crafts, sports, games, drama, music, and other activities. These positions are available in our Destination Recreation Camp for ages 6-10 yrs old and the Summer CAVE Teen Program for those entering 6th grade through 8th grade.
Recreation Leader I is an entry-level position, while Recreation Leader II requires more experience.
Schedule
- Beginning Friday, May 30th – Friday, August 1st, Recreation Leaders may be scheduled to work Monday - Friday from approximately 7:30am - 5:30pm.
- Hours prior to camp and after camp will vary.
Pay & Benefits
- Non-exempt, Recreation Leader I is $16.50 - $17.00 and Recreation Leader II is $17.50 - $18.00
- Placement will depend on qualifications and experience.
- Part-time positions are hourly and not eligible for benefits, and are limited to working 999 hours in a fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). No full-time regular appointment will be made from this class.
Note: Unfortunately current active CalPERS members are ineligible for employment with part-time positions.

- Safely lead groups of children in age-appropriate recreational activities like large group games, arts and crafts, science projects, swim days and field trips.
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, co-workers, and supervisors
- Work collaboratively on a team and provide a safe and judgement-free atmosphere where children can safely try new things and learn from their experiences.
- Perform related duties as assigned.

Education:
High school diploma, G.E.D. or work permit. Some college education is preferred.
Qualifications:
At least 15 years of age, with the ability to obtain a work permit if still in High School or under the age of 18. Must be at least 18 years of age for positions within the CAVE teen programs.
Previous experience working with school-age children and summer camps preferred.
License, Certificate, Registration Requirements:
Possession of current CPR/First Aid Certification.
Physical Requirements
Frequent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, stooping, and crouching. Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds. Perform repetitive, hand, arm and body movement on a continuous basis. Frequent public and coworker contact, occasional working alone.
Salary : $17 - $18
