Job Description
NextGen Crew Leaders in Training (CLT) will work with the Volunteer Services Program Manager, the NextGenServe Program Coordinator, and NextGen Crew Leaders to implement the City’s summer teen volunteer club, NextGenServe. NextGenServe is a teen volunteer service club that teaches job skills and career exploration while volunteering around the City. Crew Leaders in Training will assist in leading groups of teens enrolled in NextGenServe, provide a fun environment, and support new NextGenServe Participants. Crew Leaders in Training need to be available Monday-Thursday, 7:30 am to 1 pm. The position will run mid-May to mid-August.

Primary Activities
- Work collaboratively with other Crew Leaders in Training, teens, Crew Leaders, and Program Coordinator
- Serve as an example to the teens by showing respect to hosts, engaging in activities, and being inclusive to all NextGen participants
- Engage quiet teens in conversation
- Lead team-building activities
- Assist Crew Leaders with daily tasks
- Demonstrated cultural competence to effectively interact, work, and develop meaningful relationships with people of diverse identities, perspectives, and cultural backgrounds.
- Strong learning orientation. Leverages all resources and is creative in ways of learning for self to continue adapting to changing issues and trends.
- A desire and ability to understand the diverse needs of internal and external customers, and to create experiences and deliver services that exceed their expectations.
- A desire and ability to utilize digital tools for organizational information, individual, and teamwork.
- Must have completed at least one summer as a NextGenServe participant
- Excellent customer service skills including the ability to precisely articulate complex information to others in an ethical and respectful manner.
- Excellent public relations and communication skills including the ability to interact and work effectively and courteously with people from varying social, cultural, and economic backgrounds.
- Interest in Human Resources
- May 15st-August 10 (we will work around school schedule).
- Monday-Thursday, 7:30 am to 1:00 pm
- 16-20 hours per week
- Valuable learning opportunity observing the operational functioning of the City’s HR Department
- Development of customer service skills.
- Academic and community service credit available when all criteria are met.
