POSITION SUMMARY
The City of Fort Lauderdale is seeking an GIS Analyst to support the technical needs of the City's existing and expanding GIS asset inventory of water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure including, but not limited to, performing maintenance and update of GIS data, supporting data conversion from Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) to GIS and GIS to Cityworks®, conducting spatial analysis, map creation, and automating repetitive tasks.
The ideal candidate will work with users to understand GIS hardware, software, and data issues; takes appropriate action to correct problems by performing diagnostics, researching solution to problems, interacting and conferring with vendors to provide solutions.
This is a classified position covered by the Personnel Rules. This job classification is in Management Category IV for benefits purposes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Participates in the Citywide administration of the enterprise GIS
- Conducts studies of City departments and their sub-components to identify and implement added value uses of GIS and other location-based technologies
- Supports the technical data science and data analytics needs of City departments, particularly those associated with data of a geographic nature
- Provides GIS-based analysis and reports to City departments
- Provides GIS mapping services to City departments
- Create scripts and tools for automating tasks and workflows
- Provides ongoing software and data support to users of GIS software in City departments, including formal and informal training, and also to include software installation and responding to technical support issues
- Designs and implements data schemas for the City's enterprise GIS database and for specific GIS solutions
- Updates data in the City's enterprise GIS database
- Participates in collaborative efforts to implement map-based solutions with sub-functions that include establishing requirements, formulating project plans, and managing timelines for implementation
- Designs and implements map-based solutions, many of which may be interactive solutions built using web technologies
- Implements configurable Esri application and solution templates.
- Creates and updates Esri web services
- Operates professional grade GPS equipment and associated software for field data capture, field verification, and field inventory.
- Trains users in customer departments on the use of professional grade GPS equipment and associated software.
- Performs related work as required.

Additional qualifying experience or completion of coursework at an accredited college or university in a job-related field, may substitute on a year-for-year basis for one year of the required experience or education.
