Our Firefighters Do More Than Fight Fires
As a Firefighter/EMT with the City of Fort Meade, you'll be a community hero who does much more than just respond to emergencies. What Your Day Might Look Like

What We Require
To join our team, you'll need to be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work, and have a high school diploma. We'll need you to have a valid Florida driver's license and be willing to obtain several important certifications, including:
- Florida State Firefighters II Standards
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification
- Emergency Vehicle Operation Certification
- CPR/AED Healthcare Provider Certification
The Work Environment
This isn't a typical 9-to-5 job. You'll work in both indoor and outdoor settings, responding to emergencies that can happen at any time. The work can be physically demanding and sometimes intense, but it's also incredibly rewarding. You'll work irregular hours, including weekends and holidays, but you'll be part of a team that supports each other through every challenge.
