Under the general direction of the designated supervisor, accountable for complex repairs and installations, and routine maintenance of assigned facilities and territory. Also responsible for providing guidance/training to Tradesworker I and II’s for repairs and maintenance.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the City’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
Responsibilities and Reporting During an Emergency Situation:
Essential Employees may be required to work during a declared emergency. Depending on the nature of the emergency, this may require working around the clock for several days on short notice.
Non Essential Employees will not be required to work during a declared emergency. The employee's Department Head will determine when the employee will be required to work.

- Provide guidance for Tradesworker I and II’s in all aspects of repairs to assigned facilities, equipment, and machinery.
- Provide guidance for Tradesworker I and II’s in regularly scheduled maintenance services and inspections for all assigned facilities, streets, equipment, and machinery.
- Provide guidance for Tradesworker I and II’s in improvement projects as need in assigned facilities, streets, equipment, and machinery.
- Repair electrical hydraulic components on equipment.
- Inventory fuels, lubricants, and spare parts.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Assist with maintenance tasks.
- May be required to drive a motor vehicle to accomplish assign task.
- This position requires regular and reliable attendance and the employee’s physical presence at the workplace.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Additional - when assigned to Facilities:
- Replace a/c filters and clean vents, as needed.
- Maintain accurate records, including completed work orders.
- Repair/replace plumbing fixtures, faucets, toilets, piping, and urinals.
- Establish the layout and hang grid systems for drop ceilings and install same.
- Install carpet, vinyl, floor tile and ceramic tile.
- Plaster stucco and finish sheetrock.
Additional – when assigned to Streets:
- Make repairs to roadways including sub-base, base material, and asphalt paving.
- Make repairs to concrete sidewalks, curbs, and gutters.
- Make repairs to brick pavers including base materials.
- Working knowledge of the operation and maintenance of equipment required for assigned task.
- Knowledgeable in the occupational hazards, safety precautions and personal protective equipment observed in the trade(s) assigned.
- Knowledgeable in the City and State rules, regulations, and protocols.
- Knowledgeable in general housekeeping practices.
- Knowledgeable in basic report and record maintenance principles and practices.
- Knowledge of effective supervisory principles and techniques.
- Skilled in the efficient and safe operation of trade specific tools and equipment.
- Skilled in troubleshooting and repair within assigned trade(s).
- Skilled in prioritization, organization, time management, and attention to detail.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
