Under the general direction of the designated supervisor, performs unskilled and manual work. This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Responsibilities and Reporting During an Emergency Situation:
Essential Employees may be required to work during a declared emergency. Depending on the nature of the emergency, this may require working around the clock for several days on short notice.
Non Essential Employees will not be required to work during a declared emergency. The employee’s Department Head will determine when the employee will be required to work.

- This position requires regular and reliable attendance and the employee’s physical presence at the workplace.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
When assigned to the Parks:
- Landscape installation and maintenance; may include fertilizing and herbicide application.
- May assist with irrigation system installation, maintenance and repair.
- Lawn mowing and weed eating.
- May assist in street cleaning using a backpack blower.
- May assist in basic painting.
- Restroom cleaning.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledgeable in general housekeeping practices
- Knowledgeable in protective equipment and safe handling of chemicals, cleaning agents or hazardous materials.
- Skill in time management and organization

- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to work in a timely manner.
- Ability to operate necessary equipment, including power equipment, backhoe, push mower, hand tools and other routine equipment.

- Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
- Mandatory Drug/Alcohol Testing required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- May be required to work hours other than the regular schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Contact with internal and external customers, vendors, outside agencies and the general public.
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration. Risk of electrical shock.
