Under the direct supervision of the Pool Manager, this position monitors activities in swimming areas to prevent accidents and provide aid to swimmers by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Follows all City safety rules and regulations.
- Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe activities.
- Documents swimming violations or problems with pool users.
- Cleans office and changing room areas. Re-supplies as needed.
- Rescues swimmers in danger of drowning and administers first aid.
- Maintains order in swimming areas.
- Inspects facilities and surrounding area for cleanliness.
- Maintains all pool safety and operational policies and procedures.
- Works in office area, collects fees and tracks pool passes and records daily activity information.
- Performs additional duties and tasks as needed or directed.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have valid drivers license and must meet the City’s driving history guidelines.
