JOB SUMMARY
The incumbent, under the supervision of the Professional Standards Lieutenant, is responsible for assisting the agency's Inspections Coordinator / OOPS Investigator with the agency's inspection process. The incumbent is also responsible for transcribing taped statements and assisting citizens.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Note : All City of Fort Smith positions require the employee to provide good customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees, and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive. Must show cooperation and respect to fellow employees and supervisors at all times. All other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor and / or department director.
- Entry, correction, or verification of various reports into the agency's Records Management System.
- Review electronically-submitted reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliancy with UCR and NIBRS standards.
- Assist with the review / audit of Body Worn and In Car audio and video.
- Transcribing taped statements.
- Assisting citizens whether on the phone or in person.
- Assist in other areas as needed.
- Regular attendance and timeliness is required.
- Coordinate line and staff inspections as required by policy.
- Conduct periodic and unannounced inspections as required by policy.
- Assist with completing reports for Professional Standards.
- Collect data for Professional Standards reports. o
- Obtain CALEA proofs as needed for accreditation.
- Ensure inspections are completed in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with and assist the City's Internal Audit Department.
- Assist the Office of Public Communications with AFOIA requests as needed.

The incumbent must be able to perform all of the duties and functions as defined in the job description for Professional Standards. The incumbent must have excellent communications skills in both oral and written forms. Organizational skills and close attention to details are required to successfully perform this job. Highly motivated and able to work independently without direct supervision. Able to meet deadlines as assigned. The incumbent must have thorough operational knowledge of the use of a personal computer system, as well as various software packages. The incumbent must have excellent typing and reading comprehension skills, and demonstrate customer service skills. The department utilizes Criticall to accurately measure typing speed. The Incumbent must successfully type 45 WPM or more to be considered for the Data Entry Position.
The incumbent must possess a valid driver's license.
POSITION DESIGNATIONS
This position is not designated as essential during inclement weather events. City services will be maintained during inclement weather, such as heavy snow or ice storms and all essential employees are expected to report to work due to the critical functions of the position. This position is not able to work remotely. (based on need and supervisor approval)
This position does not have the potential to drive as part of their regular job duties.
This position is designated as a safety / security sensitive position and is subject to random DOT drug and alcohol screenings and / or non-DOT drug and alcohol screenings (a safety / security sensitive position is one in which a momentary lapse in attention may result in injury or death of another person).
