Job Description : SUMMARY
Working under the direction of the Parts Manager, incumbent orders, receives and acquires parts and shop supplies for a very diverse fleet of approximately 2,200 units that include cars, trucks, vans, SUVs, mid and heavy-duty dump trucks, fire trucks, small and large construction equipment, sewer equipment, hydraulic systems, street sweepers, tractors and mowing equipment. The incumbent is expected to exercise good judgement, independence, initiative, and professional expertise in conducting day-to-day operations. All work duties and activities must be performed in accordance with the City safety rules and operating regulations, policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the ability to interact with the public, City incumbents, and outside agencies with patience, tact, respect, and professionalism and the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Issues parts, shop supplies and tools from inventory to Technicians and other city departments as needed
- Calls and answers a high-volume of telephone calls to and from vendors; helps the continuous flow of Technicians at the parts window throughout the day;
- Orders, receives, inspects, counts, verifies and signs for parts and supplies transactions from vendors
- Coordinates with Parts Manager to complete inventory control records accurately
- Maintains and completes orders daily to keep Federal Signal, Pro-Guard / Safety Systems inventory in good standing
- Documents special order parts and supplies and updates expected delivery times with Operations Manager
- Secures the parts room to authorized personnel only
- Commutes to and from various vendors in city-owned vehicles to obtain parts and supplies
- Cleans and organizes shelves, bins, racks, etc. maintains a clean and orderly parts room
- Processes and documents warranty claims, core and parts returns
- Coordinates with operations for daily parts received reports and reconciliation
- Enters data accurately into Faster software, including, but not limited to, parts descriptions, warranties, orders, receipts, issues, etc.
- Follows purchasing guidelines administered by Operations according to state and local purchasing rules
- Researches products before purchasing to provide the city with the best availability and cost options
- Participates in educational opportunities; reading manufacturers' publications to further industry knowledge
- Possesses advanced knowledge of automotive, truck and construction equipment parts

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
LANGUAGE SKILLS

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
