SUMMARY
Working under the direction of the Deputy Director - Finance and Theatre, the Theatre Manager - Foellinger is responsible for all aspects of venue operations including, but not limited to, the customer experience, staff, performer, and patron safety, volunteers, performance quality and variety, technical execution, performer satisfaction, operations, and revenue generation for a 2,750 seat historic outdoor auditorium. The incumbent is expected to exercise good judgment, independence, initiative, and professional expertise in conducting day-to-day operations. All work duties and activities must be performed in accordance with the City safety rules and operating regulations, policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the ability to interact with the public, City incumbents, and outside agencies with patience, tact, respect, and professionalism and the following. Other duties may be assigned.
PlanniNG/IMPLEMENTATION
- Develops and implements strategic plans for the programming of the facility;
- Works with Deputy Director and Director to develop strategic plans for major maintenance and capital improvements;
- Works with promoter partners, national touring agencies, and Deputy Director to develop the line-up of talent for each season;
- Develops and manages annual operating budget for a facility serving over 30,000 guests annually;
Information/Communication
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, retains, disciplines, and supervises a staff of 20-25 from professional, skilled labor, and unskilled labor designations;
- Leads staff responsible for all factors of show advance and logistics;
- Develops relationships with promoters, and other national talent agencies;
- Selects, negotiates, and executes entertainment contracts with national touring acts;
- Assists Marketing staff to promote public programming and venue rentals through the efforts of the Parks and Recreation and associated contractors;
- Responsible for all aspects of customer service and customer safety;
MANAGEMENT/OPERATIONS
- Manages the daily operation of the Foellinger Theatre including set-up, performances, clean-up, personnel management, and bar and concession operations;
- Possesses the ability to competently fulfill any Theatre position at any time should it become necessary while still acting in the full capacity of Theatre Manager;
- Ensures safety and compliance with safety standards for highly specific Theatre equipment;
- Maintains facility including managing day to day cleaning, and minor maintenance;
- Purchases supplies and materials needed to meet all aspects needed for the Theatre including highly technical specifications, within budget and at best rates possible;
- Manages house ticketing system including setup, reconciliations, customer service, and box office sales;
- Manages cash, sales reporting, and attendance data collection;
- Develops and supervises volunteer program for the theater;
- Designs sets for all the various Parks and Recreation facilities;
- Lighting designer for all the various Parks and Recreation facilities;
- Follows and administers City and Department policies and procedures.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises seasonal employees within the Foellinger Theatre. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in theater management, attraction management, performance production or equivalent from four-year college or university; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Valid Indiana Drivers License if City vehicle is used;
- Valid Indiana Alcohol Serving/Bartending License from the ATC.

Salary : $72,000 - $80,000
