A Custodian job is available with the City of Fort Worth Property Management Department, Facilities Division. The Property Management Department β Facilities Division maintains The New City Hall. This position will work at The New City Hall, located in downtown Fort Worth with some time at the Old City Hall.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.
Medium work β Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.

- Shift hours are 7 am β 3:30 pm. Some overtime may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diplomas or GED
- No experience required
- Must pass CJIS fingerprint background screening
- One-year experience cleaning large (over 50,000 sq) buildings
- Knowledge of housekeeping and sanitation methods
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is preferred, but not required
- Ability to track inventory
- Experience with basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)
- Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes, strips and polishes floors including linoleum, tile and hardwood floors. Vacuums and shampoos carpets. Operates cleaning equipment including buffers, sweepers, and scrubbers.
- Dusts and polishes furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment; wash windows, mirrors and walls including window blinds and shutters; cleans and polishes metal fixtures; and, sweeps breezeways.
- Sets up tables and chairs for varied City meetings upon request.
- Cleans and sanitizes drinking fountains and restrooms; replenishes and maintains restroom supplies including soap dispensers, tissue and towels
- Cleans secured and sensitive areas
- Cleans and maintains outside areas including but not limited to employee parking garage, loading dock, and employee smoking areas; sweeps curbs and collects trash.
- Cleans and sanitizes vending areas, meetings rooms, and break rooms, and wellness rooms
- Receive and verify janitorial supply orders and restock janitorial closets
- Maintains inventory and orders janitorial supplies for multiple locations. Keeps accurate counts, estimate usage and order supplies.
- Inspect work of janitorial contract workers, notes deficiencies
- Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
