VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT Transit Operations Manager Salary Range : $57,481 - $68,977 Job Summary : We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Operations Manager to oversee the management and supervision of transit operations within our Transit Department. This role includes managing vehicle operations, personnel, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities : Ensure safe and effective transit operations across all routes and customer-facing services. Manage division personnel, ensuring appropriate licensing and training for Supervisors, Operators, Dispatchers, and Customer Service staff. Oversee scheduling and management of all Operations personnel. Handle personnel matters such as hiring, training, performance evaluations, and work assignments. Respond to customer inquiries, complaints, and suggestions, completing all related documentation. Collaborate with the Safety Manager on vehicle accident investigations and related paperwork. Analyze operational performance to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of services, developing action plans as needed. Prepare and oversee reports related to ridership, mileage, and other operational data. Administer the drug and alcohol testing program in line with U.S. DOT guidelines. Engage with the community through meetings and events to promote transit utilization. Supervise the Transit Trainer in developing training programs and maintaining training documentation. Coordinate periodic Operations meetings and facilitate external training as necessary. Adhere to safety rules and regulations to ensure compliance and well-being of customers and staff. Conduct road observations and respond to hazardous conditions impacting routes and services. Provide support to the Department Director as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements : High School diploma or vocational / technical diploma; or equivalent training and experience. Minimum of six (6) years of transit and / or transportation-related experience. Proficient in computer systems and software applications (e.g., Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel). Ability to operate a tablet / iPad, cellphone, and related software. Special Requirements : Classified as essential personnel. Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) Class B or C with passenger endorsement preferred. Physical demands include the ability to climb bus steps, walk in various weather conditions, and lift up to 25 lbs. Flexible work hours are required, including weekends, evenings, and holidays. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities : Strong supervisory and managerial skills with decision-making capabilities. Excellent customer service skills to interact with diverse internal and external customers. Ability to maintain effective relationships with internal departments and external entities. Competence in operating a vehicle safely in various conditions. Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing. Extensive knowledge of defensive driving techniques and safety guidelines.
