General description of duties
Performs clerical and technical work related to the preparation and management of City fiscal records. Supervisory position.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Job Functions:

Responsible for gathering, assembling, tabulating, checking and filing all financial data
- Prepares a wide variety of accounting, fiscal, statistical and related reports
- Conducts pre-audits and audits invoices for proper documentation, accuracy and accounting code classifications
- Posts journal entries
- Oversees or is responsible for reviewing requests for payments and determining availability of funds
- Responsible for accounts payable
- Provides technical assistance to Department heads for budget summary preparation
- Prepares and presents financial presentations in public City Council meetings
- Prepares annual budget for Council consideration
- Monitors and administers budget as approved by Council
- Keeps Council informed on budget status and developments
- Responsible for payroll activities
- Responds to emergency calls after hours as may be required
- Helps secure and protect facilities during unusual or extreme conditions
- Performs other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business management and seven years local government accounting experience, at least three of which must have been at a supervisory level; or the equivalent combination of education and experience required for the position
- Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License (in good standing)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Thorough knowledge of computer accounting methods
- Knowledge of bookkeeping terminology and methods
- Knowledge of standard office procedures, practices and equipment
- Knowledge of clerical skills, record keeping and filing
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work with diverse groups and build consensus
- Ability to be bonded
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Light lifting and carrying (under 15 pounds)
- Use of fingers and both hands
- Good vision in both eyes and ability to distinguish colors required
- Good hearing required
- Ability to periodically walk, stand, sit, stoop, and bend required
