Under the direction of the Public Works Director, the Building Maintenance Lead administers a comprehensive building maintenance program for the City of Freeport. This includes providing technical assistance to city staff in areas of responsibility and performing related work as required.

Under the direction of the Public Works Director, the Building Maintenance Lead administers a comprehensive building maintenance program for the City of Freeport. This includes providing technical assistance to city staff in areas of responsibility and performing related work as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plans, organizes, assigns, directs, and evaluates building maintenance staff and activities in major public works areas.
- Runs daily maintenance operations of property and buildings under supervision of the Public Works Director.
- Inspects property and buildings for life/safety issues and takes immediate corrective action.
- Identifies building maintenance needs, prioritizes work, and takes corrective actions.
- Works independently and performs a full range of skilled building maintenance for extended periods of time.
- Repairs and maintains various mechanical equipment.
- Lifts up to 50 pounds above the waist and carries heavy objects.
- Uses computer software and operates with a high level of organization.
- Maintains a clean work area.
- Collaborates with other members of the Public Works Management team to provide a coordinated and supportive approach to service delivery.
- Directs the work of building maintenance personnel.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of principles, practices, methods, and materials for municipal maintenance projects and activities.
- Knowledge of supervisory principles and methods, including goal setting, budget preparation, and administration, and employee supervision.
- Ability to plan, organize, assign, direct, review, and evaluate comprehensive municipal maintenance activities.
- Ability to analyze problems, evaluate alternatives, and make creative recommendations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License and have a satisfactory driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five years of progressively responsible experience in the maintenance of buildings/facilities.
