What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Laborer - Parks & Recreation position at City of Friendswood?
The City of Friendswood is currently accepting applications for a part-time Laborer in the Parks & Recreation Department. This position is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the City's parks, buildings, grounds, and structures.
Scheduled Work Hours 24 hours per week. Shift may vary.
Work Performed:
- Assists in the maintenance, and cleanup of Lake Park facilities.
- Performs routine grounds maintenance, including emptying trash cans, cleaning restrooms, and picking up litter and other debris.
- Drives truck, and other vehicles/equipment to perform maintenance duties.
- Inspects building facilities, parks facilities and other park equipment.
- Performs daily inspections and cleaning of Parks' vehicle and equipment.
- Performs simple plumbing repairs, such as unclogging plumbing fixtures.
- Documents daily work routine and keeps record of janitorial supply inventory.
- Enforces Parks rules, and regulations.
- Applies over the counter insecticides to areas as needed.
- Performs other duties within the areas of responsibility and ability, as assigned.
- Must obtain First Aid and CPR certification within 6 months of employment (City will provide training)
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- 6 months experience
- Valid Texas Driver's License
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Basic knowledge in the use, and care of janitorial equipment.
- Basic knowledge of the operation of a motor vehicle, (with and without a trailer in tow), landscaping tools and maintenance equipment, (including power tools and basic hand tools).
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, and simple carpentry.
Physical Requirements: Primarily works outside so employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions, noise, fertilizer, and insect sprays. Physical demands are heavy and may include lifting, standing, walking, and bending.
Salary : $17 - $22
