Lifeguards at a pool are responsible for ensuring the safety of all swimmers by monitoring pool activities, preventing accidents, and providing emergency assistance when necessary. The lifeguard is tasked with enforcing pool rules, offering first aid or CPR when required, and maintaining a vigilant watch over swimmers to prevent potential hazards. This role also involves keeping the pool area clean and organized, reporting any safety concerns, and providing excellent customer service to pool patrons.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Employee agrees to devote his/her best efforts and all of his/her working time to performing his/her duties under the terms of this Agreement. Said duties shall consist of the following but are not limited to: Pleasantly and politely interact with pool patrons and staff during the performance of duties, enforce pool rules, and maintain a safe environment for pool patrons and staff.To the best of your ability, attempt to answer any questions or resolve any problems brought to your attention by pool staff or pool visitors.Regularly consult with the pool manager on duty to stay updated on status of pool hours, operations, staffing, and assisting in resolving any issues or problems that may occur.Lifeguard duties as referenced and prescribed in the American Red Cross Lifeguarding Manual or BSA Lifeguard Training Manual and other duties as directed by pool manager on duty or Director of Parks & Recreation as needed or deemed necessary to assure the safety of pool staff and all visitors/patrons at the pool.Emptying garbage cans as needed.Picking up garbage on pool deck, pool lawn, and parking lot.Sweeping /cleaning pool deck as needed.Cleaning restrooms (floors, walls, sinks, toilets).Stacking, cleaning, and monitoring condition of deck chairs and tables for damage.Vacuuming/netting pool.Placing/removing umbrellas, guard buoys, CPR bags in guard chairs.Trimming/pulling weeds around pool buildings, deck and fence.Other maintenance/cleaning tasks as assigned by the manager on duty or Director of Parks & Recreation.Employee shall perform such other and further duties as are assigned to him/her by Employer’s Director of Parks and Recreation or other designated supervisor from time to time.
