The City is searching for a skilled Clerical Assistant III that is highly proficient in performing various clerical duties.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Provide exceptional customer service.
  • Generate and issue Work Orders or Service Requests from emails or calls.
  • Perform accurate record-keeping.
  • Maintain, organize, and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Handle confidential matters and reports as needed.
  • Any other administrative duties as assigned.

Education/Training/Experience: 

Any combination of training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:


     Graduation from high school, or equivalent.
 

AND

     Two years of performing responsible clerical duties to include some public contact.
 .

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Type at a net speed of 45 wpm. **
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate City needs.
  • Per California Government Code §3100 – 3109, all public employees are to be declared disaster service workers and must take and subscribe to the oath of affirmation as required.

** Typing Certificate
  • The typing certificate must be submitted with application. 
  • Internet typing certificates will not be accepted.
  • Typing certificates must be on company letterhead or a formal certificate with company logo. 
  • The typing certificate must have been issued within the last 12 months. 
  • If you reach the point of the assessment process and do not have a typing certificate, you will need to participate in the typing test provided by the City of Fullerton.

BASED UPON THE INFORMATION PRESENTED ON THE APPLICATION MATERIALS, Applicants possessing the most suitable qualifications will be invited to a written examination, performance examination, oral interview and/or other assessment instrument.
 
Candidates who successfully complete the assessment process for Clerical Assistant III will be placed on an eligible list for this classification, which will remain in effect for at least one year or until an insufficient number of candidates remain on the list.
 
All employment offers, including appointment offers to City of Fullerton employees, are conditional based upon the successful completion of a medical examination performed by the City's designated physician, at City expense.  Medical exams are administered to assess an individual's ability to perform the physical requirements of this position. In addition, City of Fullerton employees appointed to safety sensitive classifications and all new hires will undergo a drug screen.
 
All new hires will be fingerprinted. Fingerprints are verified with the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
 
All new hires, including non-regular City of Fullerton employees appointed to this position, will serve a one-year probationary period.  Regular City of Fullerton employees promoted to this position will serve a six-month probationary period.
 
The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 requires that you must be a U.S. citizen, or an alien lawfully authorized to work in the United States to be eligible for hire.  All new hires will be required to provide documentation to verify their status.
